Symptoms
- AADSTS70008 after a longer break or weekend
- Teams suddenly demands sign-in even though you changed nothing
- Other Microsoft apps demand the same
Possible causes
- Refresh token lifetime in the tenant has expired (typically 90 days inactivity)
- Account properties in the tenant changed
- You signed out fully on another device, which revokes the session
Solutions
1.Simply sign in again
-
Top right in Teams, click your profile, then 'Sign out'.
-
Reopen Teams and sign in with password and MFA fresh.
2.Clear local cache if sign-in does not complete
-
Quit Teams via Task Manager.
-
Delete the cache.
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams -
Restart Teams.
3.Review active sessions
-
Open https://mysignins.microsoft.com and 'Active sessions'.
-
Sign out suspicious devices.
-
Sign in fresh on the current device.
AADSTS70008 is a normal part of the token lifecycle, not a bug. Only if it appears daily is it worth chasing IT about the token lifetime policy.
